I interviewed four realtors to sell my house. The first said it was a tear-down (!), the second gave me a "stock" presentation with some other local listings, but not an analysis of what the listing price should be, the third was pretty informal, and then Steve showed up with 4 other people: an interior designer, a general contractor, a painter, and a co-agent. They went through the house, suggested improvements to increase the marketability and price, and were professional and quick. I had a choice as all sellers do to sell "as-is" (the easy route) or move out, fix up, stage, and sell (the hard route). There are a lot of great realtors in Portland, but Steve stands out as world class. We met with several realtors once we decided to sell our home. In fact, although we preferred Steve for his market savvy and exceptional marketing strategy, we had originally decided to work with another realtor. Thankfully, Steve came through with a better price in addition to a better service. I was skeptical when he said that he could usually sell a house for a 5-10% premium over what other realtors could do. I was happily proven wrong. Not only did we sell our house for 8% above our list price, but we actually listed the house for 5% higher than what the other realtor had suggested (thus beating the competition by over 10%).
